I've always been fascinated by history . . . this web site has given me a chance to link my personal history to major historical events . . . to make history personal! I hope you find it as interesting as I did. I would like to thank the many people who have contributed information and photos to this site, including: Dr. Daryl Dance, a cousin whose book on the Brown family: Lineage of Abraham: The Diary of a Free Black Family In Charles City, Virginia was an invaluable wealth of information. Cousin Geneva Brown's years of tireless research provided many of the names and dates. Geneva's friend Peggy Tash, who entered much of the data. Cousin Carolyne Blount and her family (Publishers of About...Time Magazine) walked up to me at the 1999 Reunion with 110 year old daguerreotypes of Brown ancestors for me to scan! Cousins Garnet Blair, Luke Jones, Jane Coleman and Nina Christian provided photos and family information, as did many, many others. If you're a family member, send me your old family photos and information on relatives (birth, death, relationships, education etc.) and I'll include them on the site. Include a chart showing who's related to whom. If you don't want to mail the photos, you should scan them as a JPEG file (2nd choice: PICT file) and send them to me on a Mac or IBM floppy disk or Zip Disk. Enjoy . . . Ike |
