ARTIST: "Heartland Pan Vibrations" was sculpted in 2004 by master Caribbean artist R.J. Henry, one of the area's premier artisans. He was born in La Brea, Trinidad near the country's famed Pitch lake, source of much of the world's asphalt. Henry has emblazoned his mark on the art world, producing twenty-five years worth of finely detailed, hand carved masterpieces depicting tropical tableaus in mahogany, Samaan and other fine Caribbean hardwoods.
His work was recently featured in a Clico calendar entitled "Fresh Perspectives" that highlighted the work of seven top Caribbean artists.

Each of Henry's master works is an original, one-of-a-kind treasure that took him approximately three months to produce. Each piece is hand carved from a single block of hardwood. Painstaking craftsmanship and a keen eye for detail have produced carvings that far surpass the category "local handicrafts" and take his pieces into the realm of fine art.

"I think about what would have the most impact on people", Henry said of his creative process. "I love to find subjects that will move or inspire people on a profoundly personal level." He has been labeled a genius because of the natural ability displayed in his finely detailed, realistically styled masterpieces. Henry stuns art critics and collectors alike with the masterpieces he has created despite the fact that he has no formal art training.
