ARTWORK: "Family" is an original, one-of-a-kind sculpture, hand carved from a solid piece of Caribbean cedar by master artist R.J. Henry. At the top it depicts the universal Madonna pose; the loving embrace of a child by it's mother. Below this loving pair stands their father / husband, fiercely protective of his loving family. This powerful work epitomises the love, pride and strenth derived by Caribbean people from strong their traditionally unbreakable family ties.

This new, unframed art work is 41" x 19" (105 x 49 cm) and weighs 12 lbs. (5.5 kgs.). It has been purchased directly from master sculptor R.J. Henry and is in pristine condition. It was carved by Henry in 2003 in Trinidad, W.I., and took approximately three months to produce. There have been no repairs or restorations made on this art work.

R.J. Henry is one of the Caribbean's premiere artisans. Born in La Brea, Trinidad, he has been carving masterpieces from solid Caribbean hardwoods for twenty-five years. His works have been featured in "Fresh Perspectives"; highlighting seven top Caribbean artists and sponsored by local corporations. Painstaking craftsmanship and a keen eye for detail have produced carvings that far surpass the category "local handicrafts" and take Henry's pieces into the realm of fine art.

"I think about what would have the most impact on people", Henry said of his creative process. "I love to find subjects that will move or inspire people on a profoundly personal level." Labeled a genius because of the natural ability displayed in his finely detailed, realistically styled masterpieces, Henry stuns art critics and collectors alike with artwork he has created despite the fact that he has no formal artistic training.
